PSG Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times late to take a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
